6th Grade Social Studies

Description

Throughout the course of the academic year we will study various aspects of culture, geography, history, economics, government, science/technology/society and social study skills.  Your student will learn through reading, writing, and a variety of interactive methods that include oral interviews, role-playing, discussion groups, and the personal experiences of their peers and others.

A Year at a Glance

  • 1st 6 Weeks :   Society, Geography, Government, Economic System, Culture
  • 2nd 6 Weeks:  North Africa, Southwest Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa
  • 3rd 6 Weeks:  Asia
  • 4th 6 Weeks:  Europe, Russia, Civilization, Medieval Europe, Reform and European Exploration
  • 5th 6 Weeks:  North America and South America
  • 6th 6 Weeks:  Industrialization Revolution, Russian Revolution, WWI and WWII

Class Grading

    Averaging Grades:            Daily Grades 50% and Test 50%

   1st Semester Calculations: 1st  Six Weeks 25%, 2nd  Six Weeks 25%, 3rd  Six Weeks 25%,  Mid-Term Semester Exam 25%

   2st Semester Calculations: 4th  Six Weeks 25%, 5th  Six Weeks 25%, 6th Six Weeks 25%,  Final Semester Exam 25%

    Final Grade: 1st Semester 50% and 2nd Semester 50%
